Pen Pal

In College I was very fortunate to meet this very sweet man at my church. His name is Jim. He came up with this brillant idea for us to be pen pals. I was so excited to receive a letter in the mail from him on Monday. It made me stop and think about us and prayer. I guess part of that is because I think God is working on my prayer life right now. But it made me think of mail as my prayers. God is on the other side receiving my letters. Think about how you feel when all you get is junk mail and bills, this is when we are just asking God to give me, give me, give me. But then you get a letter from a pen pal or a card from a family member; this is when we really sit down and have a heart felt conversation with God. This is what he desires, he wants to have a relationship with us where we converse back in forth not where we just tell him what we want and then leave. Just like a pen pal relationship would not work if only one person wrote letters all the time. We need to listen to God's reply and what he wants to say to us as well.

Happy Birthday number 1

So I just wanted to wish my little brother a happy birthday. Today Joshua turns 20!!! So if you happen to talk to my mom today you might give her a big hug because her baby is no longer a teenager. In fact there are no more teenagers in our family anymore. Hard to believe how fast they grow up. But I do have to think God for the awesome little brother that he sent to me 20 years ago. Although Joshua and I had a rough start he is now one of my best friends. This year has been hard living 8 hours away from him but getting to see him is always a blast. Joshua is a genius and one day he will be famous for one of his crazy drawings or some invention. He is a kind hearted person who is ready to serve the Lord and best of all he is my redheaded little brother. So happy birthday little birthday and Thank you God for send him to the Boucher family. He is GREAT!!!!

Prayer

First I have to share the exciting news that my cousin just had her baby yesterday (2/17) at 2:17am. Tatum weighed 7lb 8 oz and was 20 inches long. She is so cute, I can't wait to hold her.
Second, today's post is me asking for prayer. I have been struggling a little more this semester with teaching. Students are starting to not turn things in and are very on edge. For me none of the things they do make sense because when I was in school I wanted to turn my work in and make good grades, but they don't seem to want to do that and it really frustrates me. So pray that God gives me patients with these students and that I will not give up on them because I don't want to ever give up on a student. They all need someone to believe in them. They have also been on edge a little more lately. They are starting to act up and talk back, which if you grew up in the Boucher house talking back was something that landed you in your room with a tender behind. They just don't have the respect for others or themselves that they need to have. One other thing that has been hard for me lately too is living 5 hours from home. I am super close to my family (especially my mom who has been my best friend since Jr. High) and not getting to see them has really been wearing on me. However, I feel like God is also teaching me to depend on him a little more since I know in my rough times I usually turn to my family. So just pray for that strength and for me as my relationship continues to strengthen with Christ. I just needed to ask for some help and the church is where you go for that so please pray. And if I can ever pray for you in any way please let me know. Remember "9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: 10 If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! 11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? 12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Movie Review

This weekend I borrowed some kid movies from one of my fellow teachers. Between the power lifting meet and trying to stop the leak in my apartment; I got to relax and watch them all. The one I want to talk about today is "The Seeker." If you have not seen this movie I would suggest it. It is a wonderful family movie. It is about a boy who is called "the seeker" and he is stuck in this timeless battle between light and darkness. The seeker is suppose to find the six hidden signs that have been place through out time. (If you don't want to know the ending I suggest you stop reading now.) He has only five days to find all the signs or darkness will have gained it's full power and there will be no stopping it. Key part I left out the seeker is only 14 years old and he is the 7th son of a 7th son. (Okay the ending is coming last chance to turn back) The fifth day comes and he only has five signs and does not know where to find the sixth. Darkness has come and is consuming everything and everyone. (okay last, last chance...) This is when he discovers that he, his soul, is the last sign. He brings back the light and easily defeats the darkness. The reason I really enjoyed this movie is because it is a perfect picture of good verse evil in our life. We are young Christians and sometimes it seems like the darkness is starting to consume us, all we need to do is remember that we hold the light inside of us. Christ said " I am the way, the truth, and the light." With Christ on our side it does not matter how big or small, how young or old we are,; there is nothing that can stand in our way. This is not to say that those hard times will not come when darkness tricks us or seems like it is closing in. Those times will come. What you need to remember is that a little light goes a long way. So go find a super dark room stand there in the darkness for a while then light a match or to be safe a candle or flashlight will work. See how that small amount of light makes such a difference. Now apply that to the work. We are the light and sin/evil is the darkness. Your light can help save those around you. So like the song goes "this little light of mine I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine." Come shine with me!!!

Crazy times

Okay if you are not sitting down you might want to...this is going to be one crazy post. So this past weekend I got to go with 12 other people from my school to a conference about improving our school. The conference was in South Carolina, on the beach. We were all set to leave Friday morning at 9. However upon arriving at the airport we discovered that not only was our flight delayed but that we would be splitting up into two groups and later would be come three and then four. So my group had a six hour delay in Lubbock so we went and just ate breakfast and went shopping. While the other group had a six hour lay over in Dallas. Anyways to make that part short we all ended up in Charleston around midnight and then had to drive to the place we were staying and then check in. We finally got into bed around 1. The next morning began at 7. Saturday wasn't too bad. The speakers were good and we got done in time to go see the beach before an amazing meal. WE had seafood on the bay. Then the trip home was yet another adventure. We get to Dallas only to find out that the Lubbock airport is closed. So we switch to the Midland airport and a flight that is 3 to 4 hours later. Once we arrived at Midland we have to drive to Levelland and finally make it home around 1, yet again. Besides be exhausted all day Monday it was a pretty good day. However Tuesday came a long with its own problems. I was super sick...like throwing up. But the part that I want to share is that even through all the craziness and the people who are sleep deprived driving me crazy God blessed me with these great memories and a chance to get to know some people a lot better. And a huge victory was won for me this weekend. Like I mentioned before I have always struggled with reading my Bible, well through everything I still got each days Chapters read for my reading the Bible in a year. Which for me is huge. So I guess I leave you with this. Things in life is crazy but maybe God is teaching you something....like patience. Dwell on the good not the bad.
Hope you are having a blessed week. I know I am!!!

If the Bible was a movie...

So yesterday I was reading my chapters for reading the Bible in a year and came across some things that really got me thinking. When I was younger I use to hate reading the Bible because it seemed to be so boring... Boy was I wrong!!!! To fill you in on the thought process I was reading in Genesis 17-19. Around chapter 19 is where things began to get really interesting. The one that grossed me out the most was when Lot's two daughters get him drunk and lay with him so their family could continue on. NASTY!!!!! At this point I thought if the Bible was a movie what would it be rated...I know a couple of years back they made the Passion of the Christ and it was rated R because of the violence. But think about it. If they made a series of movies on the Bible what do you think it would be rated... if they left nothing out. Then the second question popped into my head, what would it be classified as... science fiction, comedy, romance, action, horror. This is when I realized how wrong I truly was, the Bible has it all in a single book. It has the action, the comedy, the horror, and best of all the greatest romance story of them all. The Bible has become so alive to me in just these past 5 weeks, it is no longer this book of names and places I can never pronounce but it is now this story that makes you want to keep reading to find out what happens to the many characters. A book that teaches you all kinds of life lessons and best of all the longest love letter ever. It is a continuous display of God's love and mercy being poured out upon his people. So I hope that maybe you can discover or have discovered this new aliveness that I have discovered through God's word. That you will be sucked into this timeless story like you would a great movie or book (if you like to read).
By the way sorry it has been a little while we got snowed in here in Levelland and let me tell you the saying white as snow has a new meaning when you are in a place that you can see for miles and miles. Unlike Dublin where we have hills and trees. Hope you are all doing well.
